Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Ryle paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at his office in Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Australia, with a special focus on expanding defence cooperation and military engagement.
They exchanged views on enhancing collaboration in training, capacity building, and professional development of armed forces personnel. The discussions also highlighted opportunities for sharing experiences and deepening institutional cooperation between the two countries.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Australia and explored avenues for broader defence and security cooperation in the future.
They also stressed the importance of continued collaboration in promoting regional and global peace, stability, and security through constructive engagement.
Officials expressed optimism that bilateral relations would be elevated to a more effective and result-oriented partnership based on mutual trust, respect, and shared strategic interests.
A three-member Australian delegation accompanied the High Commissioner during the visit.
