Four crude bomb (cocktail) explosions occurred in the area in front of the Public Field and Upazila Parishad of Bauphal Municipality in Patuakhali, spreading panic across the surrounding area.
The incident took place on Monday (19 September) at around 9:15 PM.
According to relevant sources, four crude bomb explosion sounds were heard within an interval of about one minute. The loud explosions created panic among local traders and pedestrians. Later, a crowd of curious onlookers gathered at the spot.
Abu Sayem, a local resident, said he was working in a shop when he suddenly heard the explosion sounds and came out of the shop.
Locals suspect that the explosions may have been intentionally carried out to create panic in the town. However, who caused the crude bomb explosions or for what purpose could not be immediately known.
Following the incident, leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal brought out a protest rally in the town around 9:45 PM, chanting various slogans.
Upon receiving the information, police from Bauphal Police Station visited the scene. Bauphal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirajul Islam said that police were dispatched to the spot after receiving news of the crude bomb explosions, and the matter is being investigated.
