Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will present the country’s future plans and vision to world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly session, giving top priority to Bangladesh’s interests. Mahdi Amin, Adviser to the Prime Minister and spokesperson for his office, shared this information.
Mahdi Amin made the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday (22 September) after arriving in New York, USA.
He stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s UN visit is significant. After a long time, as the head of an elected representative government, he is representing Bangladesh on the world stage.
Mahdi Amin informed that at the UN session, the Prime Minister will highlight Bangladesh’s position regarding its future outline, protection of national interests, establishment of citizens’ rights, and inclusive development.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will address the UN General Assembly session on September 24. Various national and international issues concerning Bangladesh will be emphasized in his speech.
Mahdi Amin further added that during his stay in New York, the Prime Minister will participate in several bilateral and multilateral diplomatic meetings. Discussions in these meetings will focus on strengthening relations with different countries while prioritizing Bangladesh’s interests.
He noted that the Prime Minister’s US visit will last six days in total, with two days spent on travel and four days in the US. The official delegation consists of 35 members, alongside security personnel, media representatives, and necessary personal officials.
Mahdi Amin emphasized that ensuring Bangladesh’s sovereign interests, the rights of ordinary people, and inclusive development is the main objective of this delegation.
The Prime Minister’s official schedule will begin on Wednesday at 8:00 AM local time by attending the Welcome Breakfast hosted by the UN Secretary-General. Following that, at 9:00 AM, he will attend the opening session of the UN General Assembly.
Mahdi Amin also mentioned that summaries of the Prime Minister’s diplomatic meetings and activities throughout the visit will be regularly shared with the media.
