During a 24-hour special anti-narcotics drive conducted across Cumilla district, the district police arrested 75 drug traffickers and recovered 10,088 Yaba pills alongside 53 kilograms of cannabis.
Over the past 24 hours, multiple teams from 18 police stations across Cumilla district and the District Detective Branch (DB) carried out simultaneous drives in various locations.
Under the direct instruction of District Superintendent of Police Md. Anisuzzaman (PPM), the drive targeted identified drug dealers, suppliers, and users. Officers seized a total of 10,088 Yaba pills and 53 kg of cannabis from the suspects.
Following the operation, regular cases were filed against the detainees. They were handed down various prison terms and fines through mobile courts and summary trials in judicial courts.
This information was officially confirmed in a press release issued by the Cumilla District Police Headquarters on Friday (18 September) at around 11:30 AM.
Commenting on the drive, Superintendent of Police Md. Anisuzzaman (PPM) said, “The district police are working tirelessly to protect the youth and future generations from the deadly grip of drugs, maintain law and order, and build a safe, drug-free Cumilla. However, law enforcement efforts alone are not enough to eradicate drugs; active cooperation and awareness from all sections of society are vital.”
He further added, “Following a zero-tolerance policy against individuals and syndicates involved in narcotics, these special operations will be intensified in the coming days. A safe, healthy, and drug-free society can be achieved through social resistance and united efforts.”
