1,500 Tapentadol tablets seized, 2 held in Rangpur

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) has arrested two alleged drug traffickers and seized 1,500 Tapentadol tablets along with a motorcycle during a raid in Rangpur’s Badarganj upazila.

According to officials, a special team from the Rangpur DNC conducted the operation in the Uttar Bauchandi Masterpara area under Badarganj Police Station on Saturday evening following a tip-off. During the raid, law enforcers recovered 1,500 Tapentadol tablets, a controlled prescription drug often misused as a narcotic, and confiscated a motorcycle used by the suspects.

The arrested individuals were identified as Md Golam Mostafa, 35, a resident of Telipara village, and Bharat Chandra Adhikari, 30, from Chhoto Hashimpur village under Chirirbandar Police Station in Dinajpur district.

Rangpur DNC Deputy Director Md Abu Jafar confirmed the arrests and seizure, stating that the operation was part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign aimed at curbing the illegal distribution of narcotics in the region.

Following the raid, Rangpur DNC Inspector SK Eltasuddin filed a case against the two suspects with Badarganj Police Station. The accused, along with the seized Tapentadol tablets and motorcycle, were later handed over to police for further legal proceedings.

Authorities said efforts to combat drug trafficking and illegal narcotics trade will continue across Rangpur and surrounding districts.
