The clash broke out in an alley on the north side of the Bangla Motor intersection on Thursday night (October 1). Simon got into a heated argument with Sohag, a resident of 62/A New Eskaton area and son of the late Shamsuddin.

At one point during the altercation, Simon struck Sohag on the head, causing profuse bleeding. Immediately after the assault, Simon reportedly fired two blank rounds from his firearm. As the gunfire sparked panic across the neighborhood, Simon attempted to flee the scene on his motorcycle.

However, enraged locals intercepted and detained Simon before he could escape. The agitated crowd severely vandalized the motorcycle before setting it ablaze.

Upon receiving the news, police teams from Shahbagh and Hatirjheel police stations rushed to the spot. As law enforcers arrived, the assembled crowd chanted slogans demanding action against the accused, Ferdous Ahmed Simon.

Speaking about the incident, the injured Sohag alleged, “Simon is involved in criminal activities, violent clashes, and drug trade in the area. He was previously expelled from his political party due to these illicit acts.”

Police officials present at the scene declined to provide an official statement to the media on the spot. However, relevant sources confirmed that legal procedures regarding the violence and brandishing of firearms are currently underway.
