Police have recovered the body of a computer business owner, identified as Rezaul Karim Reza (40), from a roadside canal in the Tulardanga area under Panchagarh Municipality.
The body was retrieved on Wednesday morning (September 30) from a canal along the Bokultala–Tulardanga road in the municipality.
The deceased, Rezaul Karim Reza, was the son of Mostafa Kamal from the Velajan area in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila. He resided in the Rajanagar area of Panchagarh Municipality with his wife and three children and operated a computer composed shop at the Zila Parishad Market in front of Panchagarh Sadar Police Station.
According to local and family sources, Rezaul returned home on Tuesday night after closing his shop. Following dinner, an argument broke out between Rezaul and his wife over his taking sleeping pills, at which point he left the house late at night around 12:00 AM and did not return.
On Wednesday morning, local residents spotted his body floating in the canal beside the Tulardanga road and alerted the authorities. Members of the Panchagarh Sadar Police Station and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) rushed to the spot to retrieve the body.
After preparing an inquest report and collecting evidence from the crime scene, police sent the body to the Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Following the incident, the victim’s father, Mostafa Kamal, alleged that his son had been systematically murdered and demanded a fair, impartial investigation alongside exemplary punishment for those responsible.
Panchagarh Superintendent of Police Abu Saim stated that law enforcement agencies are actively working to uncover the mystery surrounding the death. He added that necessary legal measures are being taken, including interrogating family members, gathering relevant information, and examining a note recovered from the scene.
