Member of Parliament and National Citizen Party (NCP) southern region chief organiser Hasnat Abdullah has announced a ‘Rehabilitation Donation Box’ and a public alms drive in Banglamotor, Dhaka, as an alternative initiative to curb extortion.
He announced the programme in a post on his verified Facebook page at around 12:00pm on Monday (September 28).
In the post, Hasnat Abdullah wrote, “A public alms drive this time for the government-party starving activists of the past 17 years! Give alms—your Tk1 may keep someone away from the path of extortion.”
He said the special ‘Rehabilitation Donation Box’ would be opened at Banglamotor at 4:00pm on Monday as part of an initiative to stop and prevent extortion.
Calling on people to participate, the NCP leader said, “Donate, stop extortion; you too can take part in the national rehabilitation of the extortionists who have been hungry for seventeen years.”
According to Hasnat Abdullah’s announcement, the programme is intended to promote an alternative rehabilitation initiative for people involved in extortion.
