Dhaka Records Country’s Highest Temperature of 35.5°C

Although no heatwave was reported anywhere in the country, the heat felt intense in several areas on Sunday, with Dhaka recording the country’s highest temperature of 35.5°C. The same temperature was also recorded in Khulna and Chandpur.

The hot conditions may continue on Monday (September 28), while the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast little change in daytime temperatures.

According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast issued for the six hours from 7 a.m., Dhaka and its adjoining areas may experience partly cloudy skies. The weather is expected to remain dry during the period.

Winds may blow from the west or southwest at a speed of 8 to 12 kilometres per hour.

At 6 a.m. on Monday, Dhaka recorded a temperature of 27.2°C, with relative humidity at 83 percent. The day’s minimum temperature was recorded at 27°C.

Dhaka recorded a maximum temperature of 35.5°C on Sunday. No rainfall was recorded in the capital during the previous 24 hours, meaning residents may continue to feel the heat for much of the day.

Meteorologists said the heat feels stronger because temperatures are close to heatwave levels. High humidity in the air is also contributing to the increased perception of heat.

The sun is expected to set at 5:49 p.m. on Monday, while sunrise on Tuesday is scheduled for 5:49 a.m.
