A group of 42 Bangladeshi students left Dhaka for Pakistan today to pursue higher studies on fully funded scholarships, as educational exchanges between the two countries continue under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider saw off the students at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, according to the Pakistan High Commission.

The students, the first batch under the second phase of the initiative, have been awarded Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships to pursue undergraduate, master’s and PhD programmes at Pakistani universities.

The programme is part of Pakistan’s educational cooperation with Bangladesh and is aimed at expanding academic and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Under the first phase, 74 Bangladeshi students joined Pakistani universities last year, the high commission said.

Speaking to the students before their departure, Haider wished them success in their academic pursuits.

He expressed hope that the students would contribute to Bangladesh’s development after completing their studies and serve as a bridge between the peoples of Bangladesh and Pakistan. This version gives the report a stronger diplomatic-affairs angle, rather than reading primarily as a scholarship announcement.
