Biman Buying 11 More Aircraft From Boeing, Fleet Order to Reach 25

National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to sign an agreement to procure 11 additional aircraft from US aerospace manufacturer Boeing. Once completed, this will bring the total number of aircraft ordered by Biman from Boeing to 25.

The deal for the 11 new aircraft is scheduled to be signed on Wednesday (23 September) in New York, USA.

The US Embassy in Dhaka confirmed the development regarding the agreement through a message on social media.

In a congratulatory message on social media, US Ambassador Brent Christensen stated, “Congratulations to Boeing and Biman on entering into an agreement for 11 more world-class commercial aircraft! This is another great achievement for the US-Bangladesh relationship, benefiting both nations. Looking forward to witnessing the signing ceremony today in New York.”

Prior to these 11 upcoming aircraft, Biman Bangladesh Airlines finalized another major $3.7 billion deal with Boeing on April 30.

That previous deal comprised a total of 14 aircraft, including eight 787-10 Dreamliners, two 787-9 Dreamliners, and four 737-8 aircraft.

With the addition of these 11 new aircraft to the previous 14, Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ planned total acquisition from Boeing will stand at 25 aircraft.

However, specific details regarding the aircraft models, total financial value, financing structure, or delivery timeline for the 11 aircraft to be signed in New York have not yet been disclosed.
